Service Mechanic

Synopsis: Equipment Group International is seeking a Service Mechanic for the office in South Houston, TX. The primary focus of this role is to determine, evaluate and perform necessary equipment repairs. This includes tool disassembly/re-assembly, diagnostics and repair of rentals & purchases that are necessary for production timelines. Additionally, this role supports warehouse inventory materials and utilizes Company software to track, update and verify repair data as necessary.

This role reports directly to the Service Manager and additionally collaborates with the Inventory and Sales Departments to execute individual and Company revenue targets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED completion preferred.
  • 1-2 years of mechanical or field technician experience and/or related experience.
    • Applicants with backgrounds in mechanical and/or industrial manufacturing, refinery, and tooling are encouraged to apply.
  • Dependable work transportation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding of equipment repair processes regarding heavy/medium/light-duty applications.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to work under pressure and juggle/prioritize various tasks.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be detailed-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Must be able to learn and adapt to new equipment and proper repair procedures.
  • Self-sufficient worker with ability to work individually and on a Team with minimal supervision.

Duties (include, but are not limited to):

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs – disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair and re-assembly of various shop pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures by maintaining a clean workspace.
  • Apply mechanical theory and related knowledge to test & modify operational machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure proper documentation and paperwork is completed to full accuracy for all repairs.
  • Handling and grasping various equipment when performing repairs or maintenance by utilizing hand
  • Ensures completion of work orders safely and effectively based on priority and schedules.

Physical demands:

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving by carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Ability to occasionally stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, reaching.
  • Handling and grasping various equipment when performing repairs or maintenance by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts.
  • Vision – Ability to see things in proximity whether through natural or corrected vision.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Occasional use of foot/feet to operate foot pedals on equipment to test operation.
